Book Launch Blog Party: Theme BOOKS

Blog Party 28th August
It’s past midnight in Europe, where I live! It’s officially the launch day of my second novel, Twelfth Night at Eyre Hall, and to celebrate, I’ll be hosting my first Blog Party with the help and encouragement of Suzie Speaks!  Thank you Suzie! I would never have been so daring without your example and support!

I have never hosted a Blog Party before. I have looked at at a few, like Suzie’s, and searched on the Internet and I’ve discovered it’s basically a spot for bloggers to share their work on the same day and check out the work of others.

So, visitors post links from their own blogs and interact with other visitors by checking and commenting on their blogs, too. It all takes place on the hosting blog, in this case Rereading Jane Eyre.

The result is that visitors reach an audience they might not normally reach, so traffic and interaction should increase in all participating blogs.

As I’m new to this, I’ll be following Suzie’s layout and rules.

I’ve decided to add a theme: Books

1. Choose your favourite post related to books. It could be a review, a reflection on writing, your experiences as a reader, any aspect of publishing. Anything related to books!

2. You may have more than one favourite post, so you can post up to three different links, but for maximum impact I would suggest that you wait a little while in between posting them rather than in one go.

3. Introduce yourself and your blog briefly and paste the link to your post in the comment section of this post.

4. Enjoy! Relax, pull up a chair, meet other bloggers! Find new blogs, comment on their posts, follow, reblog and share. Let them know that you met them here! This is a really useful way of discovering new blogs, particularly if you have only just joined the blogging world and when I have participated in similar things I have really enjoyed them!

You don’t have to follow me to participate, you don’t have to be an established blogger – you could have written just a single post – and feel free to invite your friends! You don’t have to be a writer. I will leave it open all weekend, so if you can’t join in now you can come back at any time over the next few days!

Feel free to share this post on all of your social media accounts too!

I’m looking forward to seeing ‘old’ blogging friends and meeting new ones 🙂

Have a wonderful time!

    1. Great post! I’d read it first time on your blog. The first thing I ever read of my own choice was probably a Princess Tina, comic 🙂 The best way into writing is definitely by reading, and I dare add the Victorians, who didn’t invent, but did launch, the modern novel, are the greatest inspiration for most writers, certainly for me. I still have to read The Warden. It’s something I’m looking forward to.

    1. That was a fascinating post. I knew there was a great deal of erotic literature in the Victorian period, but I had no idea it all started with Mr. Curll over a century earlier. I’ve just subscribed. Although I’m more interested in the 19th century, I also find the 18th century inspiring. Looking forward to reading more of your posts 🙂

  1. Good morning bloggers! I’m Luccia Gray, today’s party host. I’ve been bloggng about Jane Eyre, the Victorians, and books in general, for almost two years. I love the blogging universe, because I’ve met many new blogging friends (many, but not, all are blogging sisters!) and I’m looking forward to seeing many of you, and meeting new friends, today 🙂 I’m writing a three-part sequel to Jane Eyre. Today is the launch day for book two, and I’m very excited!
The first post I’ve chosen to share is called ‘Why I Love Romantic Novels with Byronic Heroes’ https://lucciagray.com/2014/10/05/why-i-love-romantic-novels-with-byronic-heroes/. I’m afraid I’m an incurable romantic, always searching for happy endings, although as a writer I have lots of fun writing about conflict and mapping lots of twists and turns, for the readers’ enjoyment!
I hope you have fun today and meet lots of ‘new’ and ‘known’ bloggers!

  2. Reblogged this on Suzie Speaks and commented:
Blog of the Day: It’s the launch of Luccia’s novel today, and to celebrate she is hosting a blog party! It promises to be a huge event, so hop on over with your favourite book/writing/novel post, share a link, grab a drink and meet lots of lovely new bloggers!

    1. I love your choices of great English authors, Suzie. I love Benjamin Zephaniah, and was surprised to see him on your list, which started off very traditionally! For several years, I taught a course on History of the English Langage, and Cultural Aspects, and I used to start with his poem, ‘The British’ for a class debate. He’s a star!

    1. Thank you, Ellen. I loved your post. I agree that writers are very insecure (have you joined the Insecure Writers Support Group Blog?) There’s some peace in knowing that most of us feel the same insecurities. That’s why sharing is so important.
I love your last lines, which I’d like to share here:
‘Write because you must. Write because you love it. Write because it gives you strength. If you reach only yourself, you’ve done something of value. If you write well and purely and reach other people, you can give them strength. Or make them laugh. Or let them see the world in a new way. If you reach one other person, that’s a gift to you both. Take joy in it. For its own sake.’
      Wonderfully said.

      1. Thanks for that. And thanks for tweeting the link.

I don’t know about the Insecure Writers Support Group Blog. I’d love a link. I’ve reached a point where I can send out fiction without turning a hair. I’ve been accepted often enough to feel (relatively) secure and I’ve been turned down (by the best, thank you) often enough that it doesn’t bother me (much). But I’ve recently started sending out more nonfiction and have reverted to the default setting of insecurity. It’s new territory for me, and I don’t know the secret handshakes.

      1. I’ve followed it (or whatever the equivalent is). Since it’s not a topic blog about, I’ll only be able to participate marginally, but it’s still good to know about. Thanks.

  3. Hey Luccia, congrats on the book launch, so exciting 😊🎉 and thanks for the party invite. I hope there’s rose! I adore the bloggisphere and love meeting new bloggers 😊😊

I have just finished the first draft of my first novel so seeing a launch is always exciting and inspiring.

I blog over at Sacha black and the post I’m sharing is all about the books that inspired me to write – hope you enjoy it

    1. Hi Sacha! Thanks for dropping by. I’m afraid I haven’t read any of the books you mention. I’ll have to put them on my far-too-long TBR list. As you said they’re in no particular order, if you had to suggest one or two for me to read, which would they be?

    1. Great! I hope you’re enjoying. Book 1 ends on a bit of a cliffhanger, but book 2 moves the story on more optimistically, although there’s a lot to unravel in book 3.

I am still on the second draft of my first novel so unfortunately I can’t post something about it. However I am posting here my 8 frustrating reading moments. Thanks again for the invite, your virtual buffet food is to die for! 😀

    1. Well, there’s plenty of food for thought at this party!
Your post is terrific! Every author should read it and take note.
By the way, Mr. Rochester is the villain in All Hallows at Eyre Hall. You’d love it!

  5. Congrats Luccia! Well done! Thank you so much for hosting this blog party! I am really looking forward to meeting new bloggers! My name is Cher, and I have a blog called, “The Chicago Files”. As a Canadian living in Chicago, I like to write about my observations, musings, ponderings, you name it (all from a “Canuck” perspective). The post I would like to share related to books is about a book club I formed for blind & low-vision folks. The post is called, “Wit & Wisdom Group – Defining a Kind Heart” Thank you again, Luccia! http://wp.me/p4doQv-vU

  6. Hi Luccia and many congratulations on your book launch! I run the HistoryLondon blog (which ‘does what it says on the tin’ under the theme of ‘transmitting gobbets of London’s past’).

My link is to my review of my favourite book of 2014: Rob Lloyd’s excellent Restoration London thriller ‘The Bloodless Boy’.

  7. Hi Luccia, and congratulations on your new book – how exciting!

My blog started off being just about writing, but has expanded to cover lots of different things. Here is a link about a picture my daughter drew for me, several months before my first book was published. Strangely enough, I did end up having an author event quite similar looking to her drawing – though I received chocolates rather than flowers and the pile of money was significantly smaller! LOL

Hope you enjoy it – I’m looking forward to exploring some more links here. xx

I’ve written a few book reviews on another blog where I am an author, Lit World Interviews. It is run by Ronovan of Ronovanwrites and it supports Indie Authors. A link to the site is below and I’ve also included a link to a post I published on there.

    1. Great post, Hugh. As I interpret your message, cliff-hangers and open ended stories need to be told, so the reader interacts with the writing.
I agree that the reader needs to be able to ‘fill in’ some of the spaces, to imagine and recreate their own story, which might not be the writer’s story/intention.
Actually, something like that is what I’ve done with Jane Eyre. I’ve reinterpreted, reread and rewritten the story, using the spaces Bronte left. There are always spaces… and there’s always room to recreate…

      1. Sounds very exciting Luccia. I love to hear back from my readers with what they think may have happened. It can put a totally new perspective on the story. Sometimes I wish I’d thought of the ending they thought had happened.

  9. Many congratulations on your new book! 🙂 I’m Lisa from Life of an El Paso Woman. I blog about the people and places in my hometown, El Paso, Texas, current events, etc. I don’t do that many book reviews. Here is one of the few I’ve done in my blog. The review is about a fellow blogger’s book called “Love.” I wish you the best on your book! It’s great to meet you and everyone here! Have a great weekend everyone!

    1. Thank you, Amaya for your kind words. Love is indeed variable. Most people write about love, or include love in their novels, but there are so many different aspects and approaches… I’m sure we’ll never stop reading and writing about Love 🙂 Thank you for sharing your review with us.

  10. Congratulations on the launch of your novel. I wish you much success with it. What a great way to celebrate with a blog party. I love these, I have participated in a few that Suzie has hosted, and its a great way to find like minded bloggers and posts to read.
I would like to add a link of an amazing book that I recently read.

  11. I was invited by sweet Krisitin over at Pursuit of a New Adventure to come join the fun! 🙂

I’m an author of YA fantasy fiction. Although, I have to admit it’s light on fantasy but heavy on historical charm. I host a weekly writing challenge called Blog Battle, write short stories, poems, talk about my writing and indie publishing experiences, and whatever catches my fancy. 🙂
Right now, I’m participating in a 3day/3quote challenge at the moment, and today I’ve added one of my favorite Austen quotes: Captain Wentworth from Persuasion

    1. Thank you for visiting my blog party, Rachael. It’s a pleasure to have you here. It’s an even greater pleasure to read your quote, which is also my favourite quote/letter in English literature. It has inspired part of my novel, and one of my main characters 🙂

    1. Hi Heather! Thank you for coming and posting 🙂
There is a long, complex and often traumatic process from the germination of a tiny idea to the final product: a novel. It’s a bumpy ride, but well worth it. I hope to be doing it very often! Good luck with your novel!

  12. I’m exhausted after hosting a Blog Party and a Facebook Party, and launching my second book on the same day! I’ve also been helping my daughter with my grandchildren. I need a rest! I’m going to bed. But please post on 🙂 I’ll be replying tomorrow. And feel free to interact with other visitors/bloggers. See you tomorrow!
