#FridayFictioneers ‘The Roof’ #FlashFiction

Time again for this week’s new episode of Friday Fictioneers featuring our indomitable heroine, Alice Pendragon.

Alice is still trying to find out why her father is in danger, and she’ll stop at nothing, even if it means risking her own life.

Thank you Rochelle at Rochelle Wisoff-Fields-Addicted to Purple for this week’s prompt for hosting this fabulous weekly flash fiction challenge. Thank you Marie Gail Stratford for this week’s photo prompt.

The Roof Button

Alice followed her into the elevator.

The woman hit the roof button with unsteady fingers and stared at the floor.

Alice waited for the last passengers to step out and removed her wig and sunglasses. “I need your help, Laura.”

“Alice?” she gasped. “I can’t even help myself.”

Alice showed her the flash drive. “Help me decipher it.”

Laura stepped back. “Keep away. You’re in danger.”

“Please, Laura…”

“You don’t know who you’re dealing with. I’d rather disappear than let them catch me.”

“Then you’ll have to take me with you,” Alice said as she snapped handcuffs on both their wrists.
