Time for this week’s new episode of Friday Fictioneers featuring Alice and her best friend, Billy.
Alice’s dad, Kevin, has been rescued, but they still don’t know why the whole family is in danger.
Thank you Rochelle at Rochelle Wisoff-Fields-Addicted to Purple for this week’s prompt for hosting this fabulous weekly flash fiction challenge. Thank you Roger Bultot for this week’s photo prompt.
Family
His pale blue irides darkened mirroring the stormy sky.
“Has he spoken?” asked Bill.
“Not yet.”
His fiery eyes stared beyond the horizon, his pale face, carved in stone.
“How are you dad?”
“I never thought I’d see the sunset again,” he muttered absently, then turned to me. “Alice, you shouldn’t have rescued me. We’re all in danger now.”
I hugged his stiff waist.
“We’re a family, dad. We look after each other. If one of us is in danger, we all help.”
He shook in my arms. I never thought I’d be so relieved to hear my father cry.

All my ‘Alice’ flash fiction stories, written for the Friday Fictioneers Challenge, can be read as standalones, but if you’d like to read previous stories of Alice’s adventures, here they are!
I love how Alice loves her father; the danger he is concerned about can be conquered by such love, I am sure.

Thank you, Miles. Kevin hasn’t always been an understanding father, but he’s lucky enough to have an exceptional daughter.

Dear Luccia,
I wonder if Kevin still thinks his daughter has a problem? And the drama continues.

I hope Kevin is beginning to realise that he has a problem and Alice will be able to help him. Depending on where the prompts take her of course😉

I always love a happy ending — even if in this case it’s only the promise of one. Good for Alice to stress the importance of family.
